Welcome to the exciting
world of Career and Technical Education.
Career and Technical Education, once known as Vocational
Education, prepares students for a successful transition to
postsecondary education or the workforce while providing
students with skills to become productive citizens and
lifelong learners.
In
Bradley County we are proud to offer 18 CTE programs each
with a state approved Program of Study and an active Career
Technical Student Organization (CTSO). In the four
secondary schools, Bradley Central High School, Walker
Valley High School, Lake Forest Middle School and Ocoee
Middle School, there are forty-six CTE and Contextual
Academic instructors. All teachers are industry certified
and highly qualified.
The
purpose of Career and Technical Education is to provide:
Career Exploration. Students are exposed
to career exploration in the eighth grade using the
planningyourdreams.org portfolio system and given career
options to complete a four year high school plan.
Exploration of career options continue in all Programs of
Study at the High School level.
Career Preparation. Maintaining an
educated workforce is essential to a productive
society. Through the skills and competencies of the
Programs of Study offered in the CTE courses, we are
preparing the students for future career opportunities.
Leadership development.
Career
Technical Student Organizations, FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, HOSA,
DECA, Skills USA, and TSA, provide the students with the
opportunity to enhance leadership skills through competitive
events, community service projects, and individual
leadership activities. |
